Program Description:

IN PERSON EVENT: Santa Monica, Los Angeles

Artificial intelligence exploded onto the legal scene last year with the public release of ChatGPT, Dall-e, Midjourney, and other AI technologies, followed closely by numerous lawsuits challenging the uses of the inputs and outputs of these generative models. In this upcoming event, moderated by Mazzola Lindstrom LLP partner, fine art and IP practitioner, and ELIPS Chair Aimée Scala we look forward to hearing from premier speakers who will provide insights and information. The event will include panelists Rami Yanni, a seasoned IP partner at Raines Feldman LLP and USC professor with broad expertise on myriad aspects of media and entertainment law, and Sarah Conley Odenkirk a partner with Cowan DeBaets Abrahams & Sheppard LLP and professor at USC focusing on fine art, public art, blockchain technology, A.I., and other emerging technologies. Now that the dust beginning to settle, our distinguished panel will provide attendees with an overview of the current AI legal landscape, addressing issues such as the copyrightability of works authored or partly authored by AI and the status of the various infringement claims that have been brought. Hosted by the William Turner Gallery at Bergamot station (with an exhibition of recent paintings by Andy Moses), this event is not to be missed.  Hors d’oeuvre and drinks provided.
